Something he did not yet know was that Côquetelers, the independent bottler, was already on the move to release the Aravis Distillery in La Clusaz, this magnificent whiskey-chestnut liqueur. A family recipe combining a liqueur resulting from a maceration of Ardèche chestnuts cooked in sugar for five weeks and a grain whiskey blend. A great treat. Despite a somewhat disturbing nose which gives rise to fear of too much sugar, in the mouth the balance is perfectly mastered between the sweetness, yes it remains a liquor anyway, and the whiskey which comes to mix with the chestnut.
