Sang Dragon rum from Sodade is a spirit drink made from pure sugar cane juice and Cape Verdean dragon tree sap. An ancient technique which consists in incising the trunk of the dragon tree to collect a sap red like blood. This blend brings unique vegetal aromas and hints of almonds. Rum in Cape Verde is called “le grogue”. It is a sugar cane alcohol with a unique taste, close to certain Brazilian cachaças. The distilleries remain on a family scale. The sugar cane is picked up by hand. The entire manufacturing process is done without the use of chemicals or the addition of sugar. The rums and liqueurs offered by Sodade are traditional drinks. Their qualities have been optimized by a Charente collaboration so that their typicality is expressed with subtlety.
