The Clinet Church is one of those micro-domains that mark the appellation. Little known to the general public, it produces one of the best wines of Pomerol. For a long time, the vineyard belongs to the Durantou family. Built in the 19th century near the Church of Saint-Jean de Pomerol, it springs from plots of the Clos de L'Eglise (belonging to the family since the 18th century) to which are added vines bought in the domain of Clinet . The vineyard benefits from an excellent terroir, made of gravel and clay, on a well drained soil, implanted on a slight slope. Well exposed, the vines were spared by the formidable frosts of 1956, then of 1985 and 1987. They therefore reach an average age of more than 40 years. The grape variety, traditional in Pomerol, has a high proportion of Merlot (85%) associated with Cabernet Franc (15%). The field uses the use of natural fertilizers (organic fertilizers) for the treatment of vines. After the harvest, the berries are completely de-stemmed. Raising lasts 18 months on average, in oak barrels, the proportion of new wood varies according to the vintage. The Clinet Church produces 1500 cases each year to the maximum of a fine and racy wine, which reaches its full maturity between five and fifteen years. The estate makes a drastic selection, not hesitating to downgrade an important part of its harvest in its second wine, La Petite Eglise, also sought after.
