Le Rocher des Pyrénées Spit Cake - 280 to 350 g for 4 to 5 people
This spit cake is traditionally prepared for special occasions (weddings, birthdays ...). But it is up to you to eat more often, alone or with honey or jam.
It is a specialty of the Pyrenees. You will enjoy it plain or accompanied by honey or jam.
Its conical shape is due to its method of cooking: the liquid paste is poured on a conical pin rotating more or less rapidly near a radiant heat source.
The solidifying paste forms a ring extended by stalactite growths around the spit. This repeated several times constitutes the cake layer after layer. Cooking is done over a wood fire, in a traditional way.
