The Balvenie double wood 12 year old whiskey has a copper color, a nose with aromas of sherry, citrus fruits, chocolate and spices. The palate is creamy, dense and soft. We find the aromas perceived on the nose, then notes of vanilla, honey, grilled dried fruits and candied fruits. The finish is delicious, long and warm, with chocolate, oak and spices. The Balvenie Double Wood arrived on the market in 1993, cellar master David Stewart was the first to offer this double-matured scotch, which has now become a great classic in the Speyside region. This Single Malt ages for 12 years in old Bourbon barrels then it is refined for 8 to 9 months in barrels containing Oloroso Sherry, a fortified Spanish white wine that has undergone oxidative aging.
